Ben Johnson
1. Misplaced so many passes. Definitely a lack of confidence and most likely nerves in a big game

2. Every time he had a forward pass on, he took the safe option and passed back to Cresswell. Move breaks down, momentum lost and City get back in position.

3. Both goals conceded he played a part. 1st goal he doesn't even try stopping the cross from De Bruyne. 2nd goal he is 1 yard behind the defensive line, plays Mahrez on and doesn't close down Mahrez quick enough.

I blame Moyes for not subbing him off at HT after having such a stinker 1st half.

Re: Ben Johnson
It's really fucking simple.

Put as much positivity, respect and affection into our relationship with Johnson in his first two seaons as we did into Rice and watch the kid develop into a stalwart.

Are you really arguing with people when you don't know what position he plays...struth...
Unbelieavable.

Normally he's confident enough to go up the line with the ball and take the pressure off but obviously Cresswell was telling him not to go to far. He hardfly went over the half way line.

Will learn that a few feet here or there matter. The team will nurture and support him and he will learn.

Everyone chill the fuck out.
____

exactly this. He's playing the best team in Europe, just picked up a booking and you want him flying into KEVIN!?

Just chill , let him learn and see him become a proper hammer - one thats learns that you should ignore the cunst shouting from the stands or fighting the keyboard...

Re: Ben Johnson
He is a right back playing out of position. I have seen him take on the right back in the corner and send over a perfect left foot cross. Compare that to Cresswell who as everyone in the opponents team knows can only use his left foot and has to pass backwards. When someone takes a shot Johnson tries to block it, Cresswell closes his eyes and turns his back. All this, and some of the fuckwit pundits recommend him for England. Are they watching a different game?

He is playing out of position at left back

I can see him being a good defensive midfielder... that's my hunch anyway

Most on here are sticking up for him

Not sure what going to games has to do with it.

Re: Ben Johnson
Step back from the couple of errors, and you’ll see he kept Mahrez quiet for most of the game. No easy feat.

Re: Ben Johnson
I’d try and shift Fredricks in the summer and have him as back up to Coufal next year. Should sign a left back to battle Cresswell and then let him try and push and learn from Coufal.

Fuck Me what a load of bollocks. Lingard Misplaced passes. Rice Misplaced passes. Johnson misplaced passes. They are all shit and we should get rid?
Best fishing expedition for years. I see Kyle Walker had a brilliant game. Oh yeah, that's right Johnson couldn't keep Mahrez entirely quiet but he certainly made City think twice about over-committing on the left.
Unlike other games against "bigger teams" this year we did not show too much respect to City. Overall it was a very good performance in which Johnson played his part.

Re: Ben Johnson
Nick, yeah brilliant idea chucking a young kid in against that sort of talent, have absolute stinkers which will ruin his confidence.

Re: Ben Johnson
I was pleased to see him on the team sheet at the weekend, his performances earned him that. He will learn more playing against the best team in the World and struggling a bit rather than being "nurtured" whatever that means.
He will be an excellent utility player for this team. I think he could do a job in midfield if needed as well because he has 2 good feet and a good brain for his age.
Fickle fans.....

Re: Ben Johnson
I think he has been mustard for how young he is and has really come into his own this season.

Granted he did look a bit out of his depth Saturday. But playing against City I'm willing to cut him some slack. Good attitude, work rate and isn't afraid to go into a challenge.

This is a player who is taking his chance and really putting himself about. Compare that to the opportunity given to Odubeko....

Right footed hence the misplaced passes against the BEST PRESSING TEAM IN THE WORLD :-)

Re: Ben Johnson
For the first team he's played about 50/50 at left and right back. If you include U23 and U18 games it's mainly right back but loads of other positions as well:

Right-Back - 56
Left-Back - 10
Right Midfield - 8
Central Midfield - 4
Centre-Back - 4
Defensive Midfield - 3
Left Midfield - 3

Re: Ben Johnson
Right back by trade but seems to be one of the modern breed that can play either side. Will be very useful for us next few years, especially if we can get Europa
